The Best Way to Clean Your Gadgets | AllHome.com.ph

AllHome believes that our hands are one of our body parts that get into contact with different objects or people allowing us to grasp, touch, and hold. We use them in flushing toilets, washing our bumbums after defecation, covering our nose or mouth when sneezing or coughing, and many more. Our hands are the ones mostly exposed to the germs that are inhabiting different things that are surrounding us, and the culprit in the transfer of germs. That’s why AllHome emphasizes the importance of washing our hands. But do you know this one thing that we always touch or carry with our hands? Our gadgets.

Cleaning our properties should be as important as washing our hands. We clean our house all the time, our gadgets shouldn’t be different from that. In this article, AllHome brings you ways on how to correctly clean the common gadgets we have at home.

Smartphones/Tablets

As mentioned earlier, our hands hold a lot of germs that we get from the environment, and do you know what AllHome thinks our hands often hold wherever we are? Our mobile phones. Thanks to advances in technology, we now carry the world at our fingertips with our smartphones like Oppo’s Reno 5 or tablets like this Huawei MatePad that allow us to attend online meetings, do minor edits in a project, and be updated with what’s going on with the world. These gadgets allow us to do a lot of things wherever we go, which is why AllHomes understands how you can’t get our hands off of it. Sadly, this habit of ours allows germs to build up on our gadgets. You can clean your smartphones or tablets up by simply wiping them with a soft cloth, however, for a more extensive cleaning, combine water and rubbing alcohol, dip your cloth in it, then wipe your phone. Make sure that the cloth is not that wet as the liquid may damage your phone.

Laptops

AllHome believes that we can’t do it all with our smartphones and tablets, or maybe we can, but doing it on a laptop may be easier or faster, which is why now you’re with your laptop which you probably take with you to school, work, coffee shops, or anywhere you need it, exposing it to the germs around us. More than germs, our laptops can also collect dust and grime that makes them dirty now. Clean the outer surface of your laptop by damping your microfiber cloth with a solution of water and dish soap (other than dish soap, you can also use vinegar, isopropyl alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide). If there are stubborn stains, for instance, a coffee stain, you can put dish soap directly on the stain, and wipe it with the dampened cloth. For the display screen, again dampen your clean microfiber with water and wipe your screen inwards so that the dirt won’t lodge in the edges of your screen. Note that wiping your gadgets with water is good enough to remove any specks of dirt, however, if you want deeper cleaning, AllHome recommends mixing your water with the ingredients mentioned earlier.

Keyboard

Be it your laptop keyboard, or your desktop keyboard, it also collects dirt and germs. A personal experience is when my sweaty fingers would leave marks on the keyboard making it disgusting to look at. With that said, don’t exempt keyboards during your gadget cleaning day. AllHome advises that you make use of brushes, like soft toothbrushes or dental cleaners, to brush off the dirt that collects in between the keycaps. After removing that debris, it’s time to wipe your keyboard clean with a cloth dampened with water and dishwashing soap, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or alcohol. Do so gently with just enough pressure as you would exert on the keycaps when typing.

Headphones/earphones

Headphones and earphones are great ways to shut off the world around us so we can be alone in our bubble. What it can’t shut off though are the sweat, dirt, and germs that our headphones or earphones collect as we use them. AllHome knows that you don’t want these things staying long in your gadgets which is why let’s get to cleaning.

For headphones cleaning, the cleaning materials you will need will depend on the components of your headphones. If you have a cloth and foam headphones, simply use a water-dampened cloth to clean the cloth and foam on your headphones. If water can’t clean the dirt off these, AllHome thinks that you may need to replace the cloth and foam on your headphones.

Metal headphones are usually made of aluminum, brass, and titanium. If you have metal headphones, wiping them with isopropyl alcohol will do the job.

If you have headphones with wooden parts, there is a wood-specific detergent you can use to clean your headphones, but if you can’t find one, AllHome’s alternative will be using distilled water mixed with dish detergent.

For headphones made with leather, AllHome believes that it’s best to confirm first if yours have real or faux leather. Faux leather can be wiped with isopropyl alcohol, but real leather should be wiped with dish soap mixed with water.

Generally, remove the earpads of your headphones and clean them based on the material that they are made of. For small surfaces that are difficult to reach and clean with a cloth, use cotton buds. For the external surfaces, clean with water and dish soap by dampening your cloth with it. Again, for places that are difficult to reach with cloth, use cotton buds. Inside the headphones, there is a foam mesh that you can wipe with just water.

For earphones, take a dry toothbrush or a cotton bud and rub on the wire mesh to remove any dirt. As you’re doing this, hold the earbud with the wire mesh facing down to help the dirt inside go out through the wire mesh. Afterward, use a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol and wipe the whole earbud. If your earphones have silicone, remove the silicone covering and soak it in water with dish soap for a few minutes then wash the soap residue away with water. Finally, wipe them with a cloth damped with alcohol to disinfect, then let them dry.

For AllHome’s final reminders, always use dampened cloth when cleaning any gadgets. Never spray any liquid directly on them as it can damage your electronics. Also, handle your gadgets with care despite how durable they may seem. Regularly cleaning your gadgets will promote cleanliness and help your gadgets last longer.
