One of the common cause of clogging is running down grease or other oily liquid on your kitchen sinks. To clean them, one hack that you can do is mix vinegar with water. Put it in small bowls or ice cube tray and freeze. Once frozen, you can easily pop one cube and let it down the drain to do its magic.
While this magic solution works on kitchen, bathroom drains get clogged differently. Usually, human hair causes clogged drains especially on the shower area. To easily clean it, use a stick to get hair every after bath or use a bent wire or a hair catching brush to clear out those pipes.
To easily prevent hair on going down the drain, use screens or drain-gates to keep your out.
And as mentioned earlier, one common cause of clogging are grease running down the drain. This usually happens when washing pans or mistakenly pouring used oil to your kitchen sink.
This is definitely a disaster and can slowly cause the clogging. You can pour grease into a small cup, or plastic container to reuse it, or simply dispose it with trash.
If unintentionally, grease was poured down the drain, you can easily do a simple remedy. Bring a pot of water to boil. While waiting, add at least a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid to your drain then pour the boiling water next.
Hot water will always save your drains. This tip is the easiest to do that can keep your drains clean and clog-free. Similar to the hack above, you just simply pour down hot water every after use of kitchen sink. This will help clear leftover food debris and keep drains cleans. This will also make future cleanings quicker and easier.
But if it’s grease that keeps getting down the drain unintentionally, use cold water instead. This will turn and keep all the grease in solid form and makes it easier to dispose when you turn your garbage disposal on. Then once you are done, pour another pot of hot water to clear out your drain.
These are just a few tips to prevent clogging. Do these regularly and it will surely save you time and effort.
