It can do the function of a pressure cooker, a rice cooker, a steamer, and a pan speeding up your meal preparation time. With it, you’ll have a good meal in a relatively shorter amount of time.
In this article, AllHome will be sharing with you three no-fail instapot Filipino recipes that won’t take too much of your time and energy, yet will make your tummy happy.
First on our list is Jose Rizal’s, favorite food: chicken tinola. It has a rich broth that is made by sautéeing garlic, onions, papaya, chicken meat, ginger, and patis (fish sauce) resulting in a soothing taste. To do this dish, first you have to prepare your ingredients by peeling and chopping onions and garlic cloves. When that’s done, place it in your instant pot along with cooking oil and select the saute option, let it function for 30 seconds. After that, add water and the fish sauce to flavorize your broth. Put in the chicken next, close your instant pot, and select soup as its function, let it cook for 10 minutes to make the chicken tender. As you wait, you can now start cutting the green papaya (chayote is an alternative) and preparing the chili leaves (malunggay leaves is the alternative). When the chicken is done cooking, release the steam from your instant pot. When the float valve pin drop, it means that it has been depressurized. By this time, you can open the lid and put the leaves and papaya or chayote to cook for one minute. After this, your tinola is good to munch on!
Second in our list of instant pot recipes is pork sinigang, which is surely, most Filipinos’ comfort food. The cooking time for this one is around 25 minutes. For the basic ingredients, you will need pork, sinigang mix, sitaw, okra, siling pangsigang, onion, tomato, fish sauce. If you prefer, you can add other vegetables like eggplant, labanos, or pechay.
To start this dish, first prepare, wash, and cut the vegetables. Second, tenderize the pork in the instant pot. Wash it, and place it in the instant pot with water, sliced onions, radish, and tomatoes. Set your instant pot’s function to soup, and the timer to 20 minutes.
After that, release the steam and open the lid. Next to do is cook the soup. Set the pork, tomatoes, onions, and white radish aside. Keep the broth in the instant pot, add fish sauce, and the sinigang mix. Mix them thoroughly to blend the flavors together.
Finally, it’s time to cook the remaining sinigang ingredients, which are the vegetables. Simply add them all into the sinigang soup in the instant pot, then select the saute function and keep the lid of the instant pot open. When the vegetables are cooked, serve them along with the pork you’ve taken out prior.
The final recipe we have for you is the dish we travel all the way to Tagaytay just to have a taste because really, a warm bulalo in cool weather? Such a good combo! Now, if you’re craving for it but don’t have the time to travel, then here’s the recipe for you. The ingredients are simple: beef, corn, onion, cabbage or pechay, salt or fish sauce, and corn.
The cooking process of bulalo in the instant pot is easy. Start by tenderizing the beef with the onion. Put them in the instant pot, select the soup function and set the timer for 30 to 45 minutes. Once tender, cook the vegetables for two minutes in the instant pot. As you do, flavorize it with fish sauce or salt. The cooking time may take longer to tenderize beef compared to the previous recipes, but the process is relatively easier because there aren’t lots of vegetables to cut. After these two steps, you’ll have a warm serving of delicious bulalo.
You can’t have good food without exerting time and effort, but luckily for our generation, a lot of appliances are being produced that make our lives better, one of which is the instant pot that will definitely make cooking life easier, and foods tastier. Give one of these recipes a try with your instant pot, and enjoy a speedy yet delicious meal.
