How to Clean and Care For Your Air Fryer

The air fryer which was first introduced in the market in the year 2010 has now become AllHome’s one of the most important kitchen appliances. With its rapid hot air technology that allows food to be cooked faster even without preheating and its very user friendly features, a lot of time can be saved which is why, surely, air fryers are not going out of style anytime soon.  Considering its function and not so affordable price, we would want to benefit from this appliance for a long time. To do so, you’ll have to properly maintain it. In this article, AllHome will be sharing with you tips on how to care and clean your air fryer.

Caring for your air fryer

This part is simple. There are only a few do’s and don’ts you’ll have to take note of to ensure that your airfryer is well taken care of. Let’s start with the do’s. First, place your air fryer on even and flat surfaces to avoid it from wiggling.

Second, after using it, let it cool down before cleaning it. This will not only care for your airfryer but will also keep you safe from being burned by the hot surface. Fourth, clean it with ingredients that won’t damage it. We’ll dive more into this later in the cleaning part of this article.

As for what’s not to do, there is only one: don’t place your air fryer near a water source like your sink, heated oven, or on the edge of the counter top. Not doing so will help you avoid damage to your air fryer and will prevent accidents from happening.

Cleaning your air fryer

It is important to thoroughly clean your air fryer to maintain its beauty and function. The very first step you’d want to do before cleaning your air fryer is making sure that it is unplugged and that it is completely cool.

You can put almost anything in your air fryer: pork, chicken, fish. Often, these foods will lead to odors that can be difficult to remove. To get through this problem, you can use a solution of lemon juice and vinegar. Mix in equal parts of lemon juice and vinegar and place it in a small dish that you can put in your air fryer then turn it on for two minutes. This will remove the odor because the acid in your lemon and vinegar will bond with the molecules that’s causing the smell and mask it.

In removing stains, you may use a damp microfiber cloth so you can vigorously wipe on the surfaces of your air fryer without worrying that it might get scratched just like what would happen when you use the rough part of a cleaning sponge. Not only will rough scrubbers damage the exterior of  your air fryer, it can also damage the non-stick finish of the interior of your airfryer. After wiping with a damp microfiber cloth, dry it with a different microfiber cloth to prevent water spots from appearing.

For foods that are stuck on your air fryer, it’s advisable that you remove it right away as leaving it for too long makes it harder and harder to remove. Use a paste made up of baking soda and water to soften these stuck particles. Scrub these tough particles with a soft-bristled brush which is perfect for reaching the narrow crevices where food residue tends to gather.

If you decide that your air fryer needs intensive cleaning, soak it in a solution of vinegar and water for 15 minutes before brushing and rinsing it.

Finally, let’s put our focus on the heating element located on the top surface of the interior of your air fryer. We may often disregard this as it’s not visible but the grease that evaporates from your food sticks on this area which is why you have to check it by turning your air fryer upside down. If it’s dirty, wipe it with a damp microfiber cloth again, then dry it with a different cloth.

Cleaning your appliances, like your air fryer, is a must not just to prolong your appliances’ life, but more importantly, to keep you and your loved ones healthy. Cleaning your appliances will assure you that you’re all eating clean and uncontaminated foods which reduces your chances of acquiring sickness. Know that microorganisms that are harmful to your health tend to grow in warm places in your appliances, thus cleaning them regularly will help you avoid these cases.
