Rank Your Electric Fan – Which one’s your fave?

Living in the Philippines means experiencing the extreme heat of summer and the cool temperature of the rainy season. We all know that air conditioners are the best pal during summer, but what about during the rainy season when the temperature is cool and the aircon is not necessary, but we somewhat want to make it cooler? Your electric fan can do that job. Electric fans can be used in any weather, and if you ask around, more people in our country probably have an electric fan over an aircon. For this reason, AllHome thinks you’ll find it interesting to know the different types of electric fan given that this appliance is a very common object among households in the Philippines.

  1. Ceiling fan

A ceiling fan, as the name implies, is an electric fan that is placed on the ceiling. Its style gives off traditional vibes that may be out of place in houses that are more inclined to the modern style. They are normally placed in the middle of the room so that the air coming from it is distributed equally throughout the space. Installation of this electric fan is easy, but you will still need the help of skilled workers since you’ll have to connect the ceiling fan wiring to the wiring found in the ceiling of your home. It’s a nice touch for homes with big or small space and it doesn’t occupy any space on the floor.

  1. Tower fan

Tower fan is a light, sleek, and slim electric that is easy to carry and transfer to different rooms. They are favored by a lot of people today because of its modern design and its features like the well-hidden blades and motor inside the case of the electric fan compared to the traditional fans where the blade is exposed and can easily be accessed. This feature makes it a good choice for households with kids and pets. Since it is also slim, it won’t take much space too in your homes, thus a good choice for houses with small spaces. Despite it being slimmer and having its blades hidden, this electric fan still does the job of cooling our surroundings down because it’s capable of swinging back and forth at a 90 degree angle.

     3. Pedestal fan

Pedestal fan might be the electric fan that most of us have in our homes. Its round head is supported by a long and thin rod and a sturdy, round-shaped base. The rod is adjustable, so that users can position it to a specific height that will give them lots of air. Both the road and the base keep the electric fan from wobbling making it sturdy. It may not be as attractive as the other electric fans, but they are still preferred by a lot of people because of their power to blow a lot of air and durability. Its swing is 180 degrees, hence circulating air to more areas. Newer designs of pedestal fans also come with remote controls and digital display which is a game-changer for this kind of electric fan because those features made it much more user-friendly.

       4. Window fan

Window fans, as the name implies again, are installed within your window frames. It effectively cools down rooms with its two individual electric fans, one of which functions to pull cool air from the outside to bring in inside the house, while the other is similar to an exhaust fan that removes the warm air from inside the room. This is a nice choice for those houses that are away from the pollution of a city and a helpful relaxing buddy as it quietly brings you fresh air.

     5. Bladeless fan

A bladeless fan is an improved version of the tower fan that we talked about earlier, this one has no blades at all, making it very safe for those with kids and pets, yet still cools down its surroundings. Are you wondering how? It’s simple. It functions like a reverse vacuum cleaner that, instead of drawing air in, it blows air out. The motor and blades are hidden in the base of the fan. This electric fan drags in the surrounding air, then amplifies it before sending it out.

      6. Desk or table fan

The name says it all. This electric fan is a small electric fan that is perfect for use by a single person. A desk fan is placed on a table to keep us cool as we do our work on our worktable. However, you can place this anywhere you want it to be. If you want to have cool air in your bathroom while you bathe, then you can place it on any surface away from water. If you want to have a cool air as you find your outfit-of-the-day then you can place it on your dresser. This electric is very portable, yet is a wonderful appliance for a single person.

      7. Exhaust fan

Exhaust fans are usually found in our kitchen or bathroom to draw out unwanted scent that circulates inside. More than that, it can also pull out moisture and purify the air as it can remove dust particles. With this, the warm air that we feel whenever we cook in the kitchen or when we’re doing our thing in the bathroom that is brought about by the moisture produced as we cook or bathe with hot water will be lessened. This moisture, in excess, can also damage appliances and cause mold to grow on the walls or ceilings. This type of electric fan can help remove those situations.

      8. Wall/mounted fan

A wall-mounted fan is very useful for small-spaced areas because this electric fan won’t occupy your floor space. Similar to a pedestal fan, this electric circulates the air in 180 degrees, thus it can effectively produce air that can reach the corners of a room.

       9. Attic fan

As the name implies, attic fans can only be used in an attic. Similar to a ceiling fan, they are installed on the ceiling. It is a great addition to your house’s ventilation system because it can efficiently draw the hot and humid air out of the attic towards the outside, and replaces it with a fresh and cool air from outside–this significantly cools down an attic without consuming huge amount of electricity like an air conditioner would.

These are the common types of electric fans, which one do you think is best for your needs?
