Villars Set Up P1 B Retail Holding Firm

Sep 23, 2013

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Villar family is aggressively expanding its retail businesses under the brand name “All” and has set up a Plbillion holding firm for these units called MBV Retail Holdings Corporation.

In an interview during the opening of Paseo de Andalusia branch of AllHome, the Villars’ home furnishings and hardware depot, MBV Retail chairman Manuel B. Villar said the newlyincorporated firm will be growing its capital by increments of P250 million as its expansion will be funded mainly by equity.

Under the umbrella firm will be AllHome, the All Day chain of convenience stores and an All Department Store which will be rolled out soon. They may also come out with concepts for pharmacies and supermarkets.

Villar explained that these retail concepts will complement their real estate business under Vista Land & Lifescapes and their mall chain under Starmalls. Both firms are publiclylisted and MBV Retail will also be listed eventually.

He said they are investing about P1.8 billion for the opening of 10 AllHome branches from 2013 to 2014 starting with five small branches this year and five big branches next year.

The smaller branches have a floor area of about 3,000 square meters and require an investment of P60 million excluding the building which is built by either Vista Land or Starmalls.

It now has small branches in Antipolo, Muntmlupa, Alabang, and the newlyopened San Fernando branch while another one will open in San Jose, Bulacan.

The bigger branches will be opened next year and will have floor areas of 10,000 sqm and will cost P300 million each.

“All Home is our one stop home store,” Villar said explaining that, “because we are a housing company, it is very logical for us to go there. We want to go big into retailing as well.”

For their All Day convenience stores, Villar said they will end the year with 100 branches from the 80 they have now. “Hopefully next year we want to double the number. We intend to be a major player,” Villar said noting that they are the only major local chain.

The firm’s existing department stores inside their malls will all be changing their names to carry the brand “All”.

Vista Land has just opened Paseo de Andalusia, a village center within Camella Andalusia in San Fernando, Pampanga, which will primarily serve residents of the eighthectare Spanishthemed community.

Paseo de Andalusia is also envisioned to be the ultimate destination of choice for San Fernando residents as well as travelers.

Other Vista Land shopping centers are: The Lakefront Wharf and the LakefrontBoardwalk in Sucat, Evia in Daang Hari, Vista Town Center in Antipolo, Vista Town Center in Cagayan de Oro and Savannah, Vista Land’s flagship project in the Visayas
